Having just moved into a new home, we wanted a new composite deck over our badly sloping concrete patio and wanted an old and weathered awning removed to better enjoy our backyard area. We went to RTI Services because we wanted to support a local business. Their quote was competitive, comprehensive and with a short lead time. TJ (owner) spent time with us going over all our options and answered all of our questions. (He even sent us a computer drawing of what our new composite deck would look like!) RTI Services was highly professional throughout the whole process. The end result is stunning! The new deck is a thing of beauty and our backyard has been completely transformed! Replacing a large deck is not a fun project especially when your deck is wobbly, rotting, slippery and you wonder if you should let people walk on it. It also is not fun because you know it will be expensive. Really expensive. Then you have to find a contractor– and here are some of my favorite experiences during the estimate phase: one contractor said he was quoting to rip out the ugly deck first and start from scratch; another asked if he could sketch my deck and spent over an hour drawing it in great detail before telling me that he did not want the job but would quote it if I wanted; another said it would be complete in two days (which included painting time); and one of my favorites was the one who handed me a loan application to review as he looked at the deck. When TJ from RTI Services showed up things changed. First of all, TJ was new or nervous or anxious and his iPad (( think it was an iPad) was not working so he could not show me examples. Either I had to use my computer or he brought in a laptop– either way, the experience gave me a deeper look. His price was fair, competitive and he was accommodating. I went When I asked about a potential alteration to the deck, he went home and drew it up in CAD and sent me what he thought. I was convinced that he and his company would do the work. The work took 3 + weeks. Monday thru Friday from 7:00AM – 4:00PM most days, Two to four workers were on site on time. They kept everything clean, organized and accommodated for our dog. Their work was impeccable, their dedication to quality high and wanted to hear if anything was bugging me. My wobbly, rotting, slippery deck did need some maintenance which was included in his estimate. He had not other charges outside of what he had in the bid; I had a few changes which resulted in additional costs and when one of the changes reduced his work, he automatically reduced his estimate– it did not occur to me to ask or expect that to happen. I would highly recommend RTI Services for their customer loyalty, their craftsmanship, their work ethic and their outstanding character. They are experts in their industry and they understand the concerns of their customer base. In the end, I got what I needed and wanted: a deck that was safe, strong and beautiful. 8/22

Replaced the floor of the deck and rail caps because the original cedar had rotted. Adjusted the stairs to level them and take them from direct contact with the ground.
RTI did a nice job with replacing the cedar deck with composite flooring and rail caps. They did nice high quality work and the deck floor now looks much better than before. RTI provided a quote that was quite a bit lower than competitive bids, and they were also the ones that could start soonest. TJ was always very responsive to any questions that I had with regards to the project. 6/27/2019

Quality work. I came by RTI Services quite by accident & while discussing another potential project found they also do decks /porches. I had another company coming out for a bid so asked RTI to do the same. The time, effort, detail & price provided by TJ @ RTI left no doubt they were the choice. The front porch is beautiful – as many neighbors – who gave unsolicited approval attest to. I again chose RTI to replace a very old back deck with 2 smaller decks which beautifully match the front. RTI had an excellent crew member work on each project. And some 42 year old cedar siding was sorely in need of replacement – done AND stained by TJ. We recently hired RTI Services to do a full front and back deck replacement. We had rotting wood boards and frame and didn’t think we could tackle it ourselves. TJ the owner responded quickly and came out the same week to get me an estimate. There quote was reasonable and he gave us many different options and price ranges. We opted to go with Trex boards and to have our stair stringers replaced as well. Due to supply shortages, the original material was delayed so TJ was quick to figure out alternate colors that would look right and ensure that our project was done on time. Once the materials were delivered the crew came out right away and got to work. They were very respectful to my house and property. These guys worked very hard for a week and their attention to detail and leveling was amazing. My yard was a little sloped and the stringers made contact with the dirt at the bottom and RTI made sure to install a concrete block barrier to level and eliminate future rot from the dirt. The custom railings were very well done and look amazing. You can tell that they know their craft well and perform high quality work! The new deck is amazing and we couldn’t be happier, a huge thanks to TJ and Ian and the team over at RTI Services, I highly recommend them. 12/5/2021

The building we recently purchased had a deck that was old, ugly, and in need of repair. After calling NUMEROUS construction companies and getting outrageous quotes, or worse, no return calls back, we reached out to TJ and RTI Services. They were responsive and reasonable! As they started to repair the deck, they found that the entire framing was unstable and unsafe. This added a whole new layer of work that was unexpected. They came through with a price we could afford and worked as fast as they could to get our deck, and our office, up and running again. The end result: a showcase of a deck that is also safe! 8/22

As local residents we need to support local businesses that deserve our support. RTI is one of those businesses. I watched these gents work and they know what they are doing. They were courteous and professional. TJ gave me four options with various levels of expense. Straight up and no BS. I had 4 other bids, some less money, but when I peeled back the layers, there were corners cut, or inferior materials that were put into the bid, while maintaining a higher price, which would have resulted in an inferior finished product. Not so with TJ and RTI. One bid, was asking almost a third of the entire project in just the footings. Look, here is the bottom line. TJ kept in contact, the others did not. TJ changed some things last minute, quite a bit of work, with a minimal charge. The RTI team showed up, set up and went at it. They were efficient and effective. Here at 8:00am or before every day. There was no need for calling like many contractors I have dealt with to see where they were and if they were going to show up. RTI used very good pressure treated wood for the posts and support beams from a good local supplier, not the cheap big box store stuff that is not straight with a guarantee of 25 years and rots out at 5 in our weather here in Seattle. Save yourself some time. Do it right and let TJ and his team have your deck building business. It’s all up front and no corners cut. We have very picky members of our family, myself included. They have driven out of their way to come see the new deck and the questions and comments were very common: “Wow, this is really nice! Who did this?” My only regret is that I regret is that I love to build things like this and those days are over for me. With what I have done and the experience I have gained from doing those things, as I watched the RTI team work, all the time wishing I could help, my consolation was at least knowing…this was done right! 8/22

We want to thank RTI Services for an excellent job with our backyard remodel project. The owner, T.J. worked with us to translate our needs, desires and ideas into 3D computer drawings that allowed us to visualize what it could look like. We wanted a two level deck with post and stair lighting, built-in benches and planters, plus increased bracing to add a hot tub and gazebo. TJ made multiple visits to go over design revisions and brought product samples. All this helped us make our decision to select RTI. Ultimately the quality of a product is only as good as the team doing the work. The RTI crew is an exceptional team who take pride in their work. We actually called them deck “artists.” They arrived early each day. They checked with us for approval for each phase of the project and completed our complicated deck in just ten working days. New composite decks are not inexpensive, and we knew this going into the project. RTI’s cost estimate was competitive with others. We are 100% thrilled with the whole experience. Our deck looks AMAZING, attention was given to every single detail, and they were great at communicating. Drake was always asking questions of us. They even suggested we could save some money if we kept the deck the original height and used some of the existing structure. The workers were on time, did their day’s work and kept the site clean. Happy with the repair TJ and his team did with our deck. We had some rot repair done and when TJ came out to inspect it, he also brought to my attention, our whole south porch wall was loose and not sturdy! The attention to detail during the inspection is highly satisfactory. During the replacement of one of the beams, they also noticed rot on the neighboring beam. T R2024-03-26From the fast digitized bid with graphics, till the end of the job, I will say that this is one of the most professional, hard-working, craftsman deck builders in the area. The bid came in comparable to other bids that I had received, but RTI offered more than the others that I’d called. They arrived as scheduled each day on time and made parking accommodations as needed so that we could get our vehicles in and out of our driveway. The crew were friendly and hard working during the challenging weather, and built a beautiful deck on a challenging slope. The crew were as careful as they could be around our plants and materials in our yard in addition to cleaning up as they went. The deck looks beautiful, and for any issues that that I’d questioned, they were quick to respond and resolved any challenges in the build process that we faced. This with our first composite deck, and I had no idea what to expect, but RTI did a wonderful job communicating along the way in addition to doing exceedingly quality work! They also moved our furniture off and back onto the deck. Every single employee that came on site to work our job was professional, kind, and hard-working. If you want a high quality deck builder, I would highly recommend RTI!

TJ was friendly, informative, and professional during our consultations and made sure we had the right design and materials for our project. Drawings were very thorough and estimates were provided and iterated on quickly. Once we scheduled the project, the RTI crew worked through very challenging conditions (including a January freeze and an atmospheric river) to prepare the muddy site correctly. They were polite, on time, and made sure to ask questions on any details that came up during the build. We had one unexpected issue with some extra landscaping work that was not included in the estimate and TJ made sure to call and confirm that I'd like the crew to complete the work and discussed the extra fee structure before they started work on it. Their pride in their work shows in the quality of the finished product. They made sure to complete any repairs needed to the house before packing up and kept the site clean throughout the project. I can't say enough good things about this company - highly recommend!

TJ and the whole RTI crew was great to work with. TJ met us on site to evaluate the space, provided ideas and a came with a lot of digital pictures of their previous work as examples. He took quality time to discuss the project and construction methods prior to contract signing. RTI's follow through from plans, 3-D renderings, material lists, coordination and construction was top notch. The work crew was great to work with too. I say this as a woman they treated me equally, didn't talk down to me or ignore my questions and provided clear, none dumbed down answers. This means a lot in my book! They staged the site well, leaving us space to park in the driveway, kept the work site clean, and did a great job at clean up post construction. They utilized text messaging for quick and easy communication when we weren't on site, or when we were in online meetings, and were great about us asking questions and taking photos during construction. RTI followed through on all elements of the job and helped us create a year round useable space in our backyard. I was impressed with the rate of work as the deck was completed in about three weeks. I'd recommend RTI to anyone looking for a composite deck and quality workmanship. Bonus points that the crew was friendly to my dog. The snowy pictures don't do the deck justice.

Jeremy Romanowski2023-10-04We enlisted RTIs help to both save and finish building our elevated deck. A bit of history, we began the deck with a different contractor, but it immediately became clear they weren't qualified to do the work (not up to code, amateur craftsmanship, unprofessional). After researching for quite some time we decided on RTI. TJ came to our home, saw the improperly built deck frame, and came up with a plan to rescue it, including bringing in special equipment to shore up the frame, cut perfect squares in our concrete pad to remove the old footings and pour correct footings. (They even matched the texture and score lines in the patio cement pad.) TJ answered every question I had obviously with wisdom and experience. He was in no rush, he was going to be there as long as I still had questions (and I had many!). He even got into permit measurements and construction methods, forwarded the city's official build codes to me, and created a 3D model of exactly what we could expect if we enlisted their services. And so we did! In terms of the construction experience, RTI is a class act, both in terms of craftsmanship and professionalism. I'm an extremely detail oriented individual, a 3D designer by trade, and their work exceeded my expectations. Each cut, every screw, bracket, post and beam, was absolute perfection. The crew themselves were exceedingly professional and hard working. On time, courteous, in good spirits, hard workers. If you're looking for a deck builder, RTI is unequivocally your best option.
